We are society of doctors ,dedicated to improving community and public health by supporting our members to do their jobs well, through education, collaboration, dialogue, advocacy, service development and quality improvement.

The society is made up of a voluntary committee, elected annually at the ASM, and members , who work in the areas of community and public health, predominantly in public sector posts.

The committee comprises the president, out-going president, secretary, treasurer and joint treasurer and 8 committee members.

There are five branches: North Eastern; South Leinster; Western; Munster; Metropolitan. Of these the only the Munster and South Leinster branches are active. The other branches are inactive, but we would encourage doctors in those areas to consider reviving their local branch.

The objectives of this Society

Practice

To promote, advance and encourage the practice of Community and Public Health Medicine.

Collaboration

To Promote and encourage exchange of ideas and recent advances in Community and Public Health Medicine at group meetings and at central level.

Advocacy

To assist in obtaining better working conditions and facilities for its members.

What We Do

We are a voluntary organisation of doctors, that organises RCPI accredited educational events, with an annual Scientific meeting over 2 days in Dublin each Autumn , and regional branch meetings in the Spring.

Speakers present on a wide variety of topics – immuinisations, child developmental issues, health and well being of doctors, technology , as well as providing a vital opportunity for members to meet up and socialise.

The ASM of the society is held in conjunction with the Scientific meeting where motions are discussed, annual accounts presented and branch reports received.
